One of the best Centrebet Vic Peters Classics (520m) has been assembled for the Final next Saturday night (November 3) at Wentworth Park. 

The Group 1 $75,000 to the winner event saw a high calibre of nominations received, with some of Australia’s best youngster set to fight out the final next week. 

Tonight’s semi-finals saw victories go to Renegade Chief, Unexplained, Allen Dion and Odie For Now. 

Opening semi winner Renegade Chief was the fastest qualifier, posting a 29.91 win over Mucho Caliente and Ronan Izmir. Victorian trainer Kel Greenough posted a double with Odie For Now winning semi-final four in 30.11. 

Majella Ferguson prepared Unexplained continued his good run of form winning the second qualifier in 30.15, after finding a favourable rails run at the first turn. Proven Nitro was an impressive run, finishing second and ensuring himself a place in the Group 1 final. 

Largest upset of the night went to Allen Dion, which started from the red alley following the scratching of Connor Izmir. The Andrea Dailly trained greyhound made the most of the inside draw leading for most of the 30.04 journey. 

Next Saturday night (November 3) will also see the running of the exciting Do You Think You Can Score? Soccer Penalty Shoot Out competition. 20 race night attendees, 16 years or above, will have the opportunity to kick for $1,000 in cold hard cash. With $20,000 up for grabs this thrilling event is bound to again attract a high level of interest.

Run back on March 17 for the first time, five competitors successfully put the ball in the back of the net, picking up $1,000 for their efforts. Premier League Goal Keeper Nathan Denham is again on board and looking to stop any shots getting past him this time.

Next Saturday night’s meeting at Wentworth Park is set to be a fiery one.
