Due to the extreme temperatures being experienced in both the Sydney and Newcastle areas, tonight's Wentworth Park meeting has been postponed to Sunday 20 January and tonight’s meeting The Gardens meeting has been abandoned.

GRNSW made the decision after discussions with the Bureau of Meteorology at 12.50pm on Friday. The Bureau advised that the cool change to the weather is not forecast to reach Sydney until 8pm.

Temperatures will remain at around 40 degrees Celsius until that time.

The cool change is predicted to reach Newcastle a couple of hours later.

Despite the fact some participants have air-conditioned vehicles and trailers, GRNSW decided the current extreme temperatures were not conducive to racing.

The Sunday meeting at Wentworth Park will start at approximately 2pm and will be televised on Sky 2.

Actual times for the meeting will be available on thedogs.com.au later this afternoon.
