Following four even heats of NSW’s State Sprint heats at Wentworth Park, Royal Sprite, will head in to next Saturday night’s final as the favourite to represent NSW at the National Championships.
Winner of the opening State heat on Saturday night, Royal Sprite was able to rail under early leader Pride Of Mykonos at the first turn, and will be improved by the inside draw in the final.
Fellow heat winners, Zulu Zues, Amadeus Strikes and Zipping Willow were not as fortunate with their final box draw, with all three drawing to the outside of the track.

Two heats of the Nationals NSW Distance Series followed Saturday night’s Sprint qualifiers with Smart Valentino and Proven Stellar shining in their respective heats.
In tightly fought affairs Smart Valentino returned to form running down Compass and Set To Shine to claim the opening Distance heat in 42.43.
Proven Stellar lead all the way in the second qualifier, carving out an impressive 42.28 victory over Midnight News who wasn’t able to pass the Preston Rowles runner.

The winner from each series will travel to Melbourne, as the NSW representative in the Championship Finals on August 24.
The Group 1 National Championship Finals will this year be conducted at The Meadows, with qualifiers to come from Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia, Victoria (2) and New South Wales, and the AGRA Wild Card.
