Victorian stayer Proven Impala claimed her first Wentworth Park feature, claiming the Group 3 Chairman’s Cup (720m) on Saturday night (September 14).

With connections concerned with the box eight draw prior to the start, it didn’t take long for their concerns to be allayed with Proven Impala picking up the lead from Little Grey at the winning post the first time.

Once on the bunny, the daughter of Velocette x Thanks Blue, carved out an impressive lead to win by 4 ½ lengths over strong finishing Smart Valentino and Lucy Wires.

Stopping the clock at a super smart 42.01, trainer Joe Borg said that preparation was critical to the $25,000 victory.

“The run before the heats was the key to this win,” Borg said.

Proven Impala will now return to Victoria next weekend, with a return to Wentworth Park expected for the Bohemia Crystal Sydney Cup in October.
