New Sensation stacks up
1 April 2014
A host of Australia’s next big things will headline the opening meeting of the 2014 Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg carnival at Wentworth Park on Friday night, April 4.
In it’s second year, the Group 3 Macro Meats New Sensation series has again attracted a high calibre of nominations, with a number of trainers choosing to place their starters in the age and win restricted event, rather than the Golden Easter Egg series.
Such up and comers include, Tanya Auld prepared Hooksy which has won nine of his 15 starts, including three best of the night performances at Sandown Park. Hooksy trialled before last Friday’s meeting at Wentworth Park posting an overall time of 29.68, a similar time to that recorded by Golden Easter Egg contenders, Dyna Nalin and Walk Hard.
One of just a few interstate nominations, Hooksy will lead the charge along with Living Proof, after former Victorian Waymore’s Blues, transferred into NSW owner and trainership last week. Now with Molong based, Toby Weekes, Waymore’s Blues was the third placegetter in the Group 1 National Derby back in February, as well as winning last week’s Maitland Cup consolation event.
With $25,000 on offer to the three week series, final winner, a host of NSW based runners have also be prepped for the event, including My Kinda Music, Silent Effective and Shoulders.
All three hopefuls have posted strong recent wins on the Wentworth Park circuit, with Shoulders’ 29.73 last Friday (March 28), the best of the three.
Central West prepared My Kinda Music comes in to the series having won the Temora Cup at the start of March before recording a 29.89 victory on March 21.
One of the most talked about runners in NSW at the current time, Silent Effective has drawn well in box one in the fifth heat. Awkward early, Silent Effective was ultra impressive at Nowra last weekend, recording a best of the night, ten length victory. The rails drawn will ensure that the Darren Sultana prepared runner can position well to make a late dash to the line.
