Paua comes to Maiden

Prominent Wentworth Park trainers, Jason Mackay and Steve White will head in to Saturday’s (April 19) Group 3 Sportingbet Magic Maiden final, with two qualifiers each, with all starters having strong claims in taking out the $25,000 winners cheque.
After leading most of Friday’s semi-final 520m journey Paua To Roar was pipped on the post by Glenn Rounds prepared Anything Less in the opening qualifier. Stopping the clock at 29.94, the duel was an impressive opening event to Friday’s program with Paua To Roar, for Nowra Hill based Steve White, drawing box one in next weekend’s final.
White’s second qualifier for the Group 3 title came in the final run-off when Tommy Brislane lead all the way in 29.97, over five lengths clear of Zipping Weston. A thrilled White was pleased to again be a part of the Golden Easter Egg Carnival, having previously placed in the Association Cup and won the Golden Easter Egg.
2013 Wentworth Park premiership winning trainer, Jason Mackay, claimed the second of the Sportingbet Magic Maiden semi-finals with Zipping Bruno picking up early leader Organic Choice down the back before clocking the fastest qualifing time of 29.81. With litter brother, Zipping Weston finishing second behind Paua To Roar, Mackay again features strongly in the maiden series, having had multiple finalists in 2012.
