Bessy Boo gave trainer Christine Proctor the thrill of her career when he claimed Group 1 glory on Saturday night (June 21) in the Rapidvite Peter Mosman Classic (520m) at Wentworth Park.

Jumping from box one, Bessy Boo was able to position well early and run down leader Push It, stopping the clock at 29.71, in what Proctor says is the highlight of her training career.

“These things happen to other people, not us. I just can’t believe it,” Proctor said following the race.

In what was a sensational night for first time owner, Ashley Wilson and family, the son of Bekim Bale x My Black Bess netted connections a cool $75,000.

Finishing just one length clear of fellow strong finisher, All Strung Out, which was well supported in betting, Bessy Boo returned a healthy $17 dividend for NSW punters.

Saturday’s sensational night of racing at the Glebe circuit also featured the running of the GBOTA Challenge sprint and stayers finals, which returned $20,000 to each of the final winners.

The sprinters opened the night, with Creepy Coupe (box one) and Lochinvar Impact (box eight) going stride for stride throughout the 520m journey. Prepared by Adam Wade, Creepy Coupe was able to finish the better winning by just one length in 29.71 over Lochinvar Impact, Got The Life finishing in third.

In the stayers series it was even money favourite Dusty Moonshine which prevailed over Gotta Problem in 41.94, giving trainer Denice Warren the quinella, and a $25,000 pay day. Having to work throughout the event to peg down leader Queen Marina, Dusty Moonshine was able to get away with a 3 ¾ length victory over her kennelmate, which also finished strongly.
