A clean getaway by Lucy Lobster handed her connections the Group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic final (520m) on Saturday night (November 1) at Wentworth Park.

Jumping from box five, the daughter of Brett Lee x One Tree Hill showed great box manners to lead with Jewel Action out of the straight for the first time. In a thrilling stride for stride event, it was Lucy Lobster who held on the strongest, claiming a half length victory over Jewel Action.

Race favourite, Anything Less, got caught in early trouble and was a tremendous run to make up ground and finish third.

Prepared by Charlie and Lisa Lamb at Swan Bay, Lucy Lobster provided new comers to the game, the Sweet Lady Punt Syndicate their greatest thrill in the sport, securing a $75,000 winner’s cheque for the 29.85 effort.

Speaking after the race, connections indicated a campaign in Melbourne was likely in the near future.

Wentworth Park’s next feature event is the Schweppes Summer Cup (720m), with heats to be conducted on Saturday, November 29.
