Second fastest qualifier for the evening went to Kihael Kaluna in 29.83. The Group 3 Ladbrokes Magic Maiden finalist was able to gain a start after being drawn as reserve in the third qualifier and the son Oaks Road used the box one alley to perfection clocking 5.39, 17.81 to win by six lengths over Nangar Flame, Stench Of Power and Dun Ya Dash.

Hunter based Daniel Flanagan had a good night at the Glebe circuit claiming the opening Ladbrokes Vic Peters heat. 280m track record holder Estranged led as expected, with Flanagan's Explosive Range just too strong on the home turn, powering away to win by 10 1/4 lengths. Flanagan's night continued in fine form with Full Of Wind finishing third in the second heat behind No Donuts and Espanyol.

Returning to racing last week at Maitland, No Donuts, continued the strong run of form, running down early speedster Espanyol in the home straight to record a finishing time of 30.01.

Dennis and Ann Barnes' runners were well in the market throughout the night, with Nangar Flash showing why in heat four of the night. Jumping from box eight, Nangar Flash had to work hard to run down Good Odds Kate, finishing just the better on the line.

Londonderry trainer Frank Hurst bounced back in the next heat with Good Odds Ocker taking the fifth qualifier in 30.45. An evenly fought event, Good Odds Ocker appeared in the final strides to beat home Paloma Lago, Star Torana and Pedro Cerrano.

Heat six went the way of  Anthony Azzopardi's Myrniong Star from box eight. Leading virtually throughout, the Azzopardi prepared runner defeated a handy field including Body And Soul, Zipping Harry and the well supported Morish.

Ladbrokes Magic Maiden form held up well across the card, with the Group 3 winner from the Easter Carnival, Black Bear Lee winning the seventh heat in 30.07. Starting from box one, the Ruth Matic prepared runner was able to use the rails well to follow early leader Magic Spring through the catching pen and back straight. At the home turn, Black Bear Lee was able to rail again and do enough, with Victorian Blazin' Bomber flashing home late to score second in front of Magic Spring.

Four semi finals will be conducted next Saturday, October 24, with first and second to progress to the October 31 $75,000 to the winner final.
