Serena Nimbus upset her more fancied rivals in the opening heat of the Group 3 Summer Cup at Wentworth Park on Saturday night (November 28).
Prepared by NSW owner-trainer, Neville Brown, Serena Nimbus was well supported in betting at $10 and didn't disappoint for connections clocking the best qualifying time of 42.27.
The daughter of Kinloch Brae x Where's Tobin was away well with Sydney Cup winner Ada Mary, with the pair stride for stride throughout. It was not until the final lunge that Serena Nimbus was able to get up and beat Ada Mary by three quarters of length, with 4 1/4 lengths back to It's A Bird.

Last week's Group 1 Bold Trease finalist Luna Jinx finished in fourth, and will is expected to be well supported again in Saturday's $25,000 to the winner final.
In the second of the qualifiers, Bold Trease winner Bourbski Fever was the punters elect, jumping at $2.40 from box four.
Moderately away, Bourbski Fever was in to trouble early, while staying new comer Shoulders was able to be off and gone. Setting impressive sectionals of 16.01 & 29.61, the Anthony Azzopardi prepared Shoulders was able to lead throughout and clock an overall time of 42.47.
In his second only staying start, Azzopardi said he was pleased with the run of Shoulder who beat home Wild Fire, Zipping Echo & Bourbski Fever.
"It has been hard to prepare Shoulder for this race, given how few stayers there are in NSW," Azzopardi said.
"So given that I am just so wrapped with the dog's run and overall time, he can only improve the more experience he gets."
