Black Bear Lee claimed his second Group 3 title for 2015, winning Wentworth Park's final feature of the year, the John Stollery Memorial Christmas Gift on Saturday night.
Jumping from box two as first reserve for the event, trainer Ruth Matic said prior to the race 'I can't believe we have got a start!'. The son Brett Lee x Paua Of Love did disappoint his trainer, making the most of the inside start in the $25,000 to the winner series.
Spearing the lids, Black Bear Lee was not headed in the 29.84 victory, beating home Let It Develop and Are Jip by over two lengths.
Black Bear Lee took out the Ladbrokes Magic Maiden at Wentworth Park at Easter and has since appeared regularly at headquarters, having won nine times from 15 starts at the track and distance.
Speaking after the race, trainer Ruth Matic said it was a pleasure to see her charger put in the performance he did and bring joy to his connections J Lymbery & G Ganderton.
"Jason is having a bit of a tough time at the moment, so this is a great result to brighten spirits," Matic said.
In a big night for Anthony Azzopardi, his runner, Let It Develop finished in second in the John Stollery Memorial Christmas Gift topping off a quality night which saw the Londonderry trainer claim four winners and two other minor placings on the card.
In a sensational night trackside, other highlights of the evening included a visit from Santa, Jack Russell racing and Kindi Farm; which featured goats, sheep, a pig & more.
Wentworth Park will continue to race over the Christmas period with a meeting on Saturday, December 26 before gearing up again for the Group 1 Ladbrokes Paws of Thunder & Group 2 Summer Distance Plate heats on January 9.
