Team Dailly kicked off their 2016 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg campaign in style, taking out the first heat with Marley Bale. Exiting from box one, Marley Bale held off a late charge from Jason Thompson’s Moreira in a slick time of 29.83.
Heat two saw the Dailly’s pipped by a nose on the post, with fellow Victorian trainer Angela Langton getting the win with Both Sides Now from box three in a time of 30.14.
Favourite backers had no luck again in heat three, with NSW getting their first win victory with Nangar Flash from box four, running down fellow NSW sprinter Magic Spring. The son of Collision and Flash Fancy clocked a sizzling time of 29.66 that would’ve put a huge smile of trainer Dennis Barnes’ face.
Angela Langton secured her second winner for the night in heat four, after Shared Equity was faultless in her display from box one, leading from start to finish in a flying 29.73 and recorded a speedy first split of 5.33.
Another upset occurred in heat five, with Temlee winner Dalgetty very popular with punters at $2.00, however Queensland chaser Outside Pass stole the show from box five with a blistering best of the night performance of 29.63.
Jason Mackay gave NSW it’s second victor for the night in heat six with Duna Runa, recording her fourth victory out of her past five starts. Jumping from box three, she held off in-form sprinter Knight Sprite and recorded another fast time of 29.69, with Hunter Valley greyhounds making up the quinella.
“If she nails the start like that, she certainly can’t be run down, she’s super strong,” said trainer Jason Mackay.
“I think she’s going to be more than a handy stayer later on,” Mackay added.
“If she draws boxes 1-4 would be lovely. She’s just got to try and repeat that again to put her up in the firing line with a good chance."
Mitcharlie Mia continued her winning ways in heat seven for trainer Mitchell Northfield , after overcoming a difficult box five draw, she rounded up early leader Sleek Master on the line by a length in a solid performance of 29.82. Mitcharlie Mia also notched up her sixth consecutive win.
“She’s backed up really well and does so each time, she just takes each run in her stride,” said Brendon Northfield after the race.
“She’s a good traveller and has done a lot of it,” he added.
“I would like to see her drawn off the track, but she is faultless off the inside as well and holds a good straight line to the first corner."
Last years Magic Maiden winner Black Bear Lee returned to the winners circle in heat eight after falling at the track last week. Ruth Matic’s chaser did plenty of hard work from box eight and edged out early leader Asa Killer Queen by a length and three quarters, clocking a respectable time of 29.98.
Andrea Dailly notched up her second winner in heat nine with Snakebite Bale successful from box four. After getting past speedy customer Good Odds Angel approaching the home turn, Snakebite Bale streaked away to salute by five and a half lengths, in red hot run of 29.74. Co-trainer Tom Dailly was happy with the kennels performances after tonight.
“They went good."
“Snakebite Bale got out tonight which is a big difference because he can run 600 on his ears, so when he was lobbed second, he should win and he did."
“The whole lot of them were all good runs, they all did there job. A couple didn’t win but they were good runs and go through to next week."
“Dawkins Bale is the one to follow,” added Dailly.
The final heat went to fellow Victorian trainer Rob Britton and Bearville Azza from box five. After getting some room to move, he scored a nice victory on debut at Wentworth Park by one and three quarter lengths in a solid time of 29.96.
Four Semi-Finals will be run next Saturday, March 19' with semis determined by a set matrix which has regard for heat placing and time, no guarding applies in the semis. Semis are listed, noting they are not in box draw order. Box draw will be completed Tuesday, March 15.
