Benteke picked up right where he left off in tonights Group 3 Ladbrokes Magic Maiden heats, using box one to perfection in heat three. Trainer Ruth King was delighted with his sizzling 29.73 performance, with this son of Collision bettering his time from last week by a whole tenth.

“I think he’s been here before,” said King after the race.

“I don’t mind where he draws, but I do like box three, however the way he came out tonight I think he will come out of any box."

“Susan Pitstock’s dog (Fabulous Five) is definitely competition and has improved a lot since his performance trial."

Heat one went to $14.40 outside runner Fabulous Five, producing an impressive come-from-behind victory from box four. Trained by Susan Pitstock, this son of Spring Gun recorded a solid time of 30.07, including a speedy run home of 11.82 and is now unbeaten from two career starts.

Jason Magri’s Wicked Warrior again showed his ability by taking the lead around the first turn and streaked away to score by three and a half lengths. The son of Where’s Pedro clocked a smart time of 29.96 in wet conditions.

The fourth heat went to another victor from last weeks heats in Lowanna’s Son. Exiting from box eight, this beautifully bred son of Barica Bale and Lagoon Lowanna mustered brilliant early pace to cross the field and take the lead around the first turn, stopping the clock at 30.22.
