Andrea Dailly has once again stamped her authority on the Group One Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg series, with Dawkins Bale the fastest qualifier in tonights semi-finals at Wentworth Park.

Stepping brilliantly from box four, the son of Turanza Bale and Bala Bale was never headed in a dominant display by two and three quarter lengths, clocking a slick time of 29.71. Punters could’ve collected great odds of $6.40 with Ladbrokes.com.au best tote plus 20%. Northern NSW chaser Mitcharlie Mia produced another gusty display to get across from the wide alley and qualify for next weeks final for trainer Mitchell Northfield.

Semi-final one was quinellad by two former NSW trainers; Steve White and Anthony Azzopardi. White’s talented chaser Rare Pearl was too good for Azzopardi’s Asa Killer Queen in the latter stages, saluting by two and a half lengths in a solid time of 29.98. The winner returned healthy odds of $4.80 at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Semi-final two was a cracking affair and went down to the wire between Victorian chaser Moreira ($3.80) and Hunter Valley sprinter Knight Sprite. Gale Masterson’s Knight Sprite was pipped on the line by a neck by Jason Thompson’s Moreira in a smart time of 29.93. Thompson’s night was complete after coming up with box one in next weeks final.

“One word for the box draw and thats perfect,” said Thompson.

“At worst he needs to begin the same as he did tonight or a little bit better. The speed comes from the middle and box one is all he needs."

“Whether his good enough to win it remains to be seen, but to be fortunate enough to get a draw like he’s got, it gives him every opportunity to figure."

Masterson wasn’t disappointed with her charges performance and is hopeful to go one better in next weeks final from box five.

“I’m happy with the draw, he jumps out of every box and I’m not stressing over it."

“I kept him fresh this week because he was a bit flat after the derby, but i’ll give him a run this week and freshen him up,” she added.

The last semi-final went to renewed finisher Brad Hilly Billy, who copped plenty of checks on the home turn, yet streaked away to score by two lengths in a speedy time of 29.85. He’s loyal followers were definitely rewarded with $11.00 offered pre-race and $14.56 with best tote plus 20% at Ladbrokes.com.au. Another outsider Blue Revolver finished second and gives Mark Azzopardi a starter in the big final next week.
