Despite NSW losing yet another Origin series on Wednesday night, the state has plenty of hopeful chances in tonights G1 Peter Mosman Classic final at Wentworth Park.

Julie Fletcher’s El Magnifico took time honours in last weeks semi-finals, stopping the clock at an impressive 29.72. Despite the hard task of exiting from box eight tonight, this son of El Grand Señor and Little Grey has won his only prior attempt from the wide alley.

Fellow Sydney trainer Mark Gatt had plenty of reasons to smile after the box draw was conducted last week, coming up with the inside alley for his talented runner Ritza Lenny. Notching up his fourth victory at headquarters last week, this son of Barcia Bale and Lagoon Lowanna recorded a speedy 29.82, with a sentimental touch as the greyhound is named after Gatt’s young son Lenny.

Barcia Bale x Lagoon Lowanna

Trainer: Mark Gatt

WP: 6 starts, 4 wins, 1 second

Box Two - Buck Forty

Buck Fever x Fancy Jaffa

Trainer: Jason Thompson

WP: 3 starts, 0 wins, 2 seconds, 1 third

PB: 29.98

*Already an experienced group race performer and will relish a favourable box draw. In great hands and has a strong motor, as displayed in his recent middle distance victories*

Box Three - Shima Song

Dyna Tron x Shimaguni

Trainer: Andrea Dailly

WP: 2 starts, 1 win, 1 third

PB: 30.07

*Was victorious in her semi-final win over Buck Forty last week in 30.07 and is an ultra-consistent greyhound. She will need to outpace her rivals early, but can run a cheeky race with some luck*

 Box Four - Invictus Rapid

Cos?mic Rumble x Miss Fiesty

Trainer: Jason Thompson

WP: 4 starts, 0 wins, 2 seconds

PB: 30.02

*Ran a gallant second behind El Magnifico in best of the night figures last week and hasn’t had much luck with box draw lately. He is a consistent beginner and will need to display his best box manners to avoid the first turn traffic jam*

Box Five - Tap Out Scarlet

Magic Sprite x Indigo Gem

Trainer: Rodney Metselaar

WP: 17 starts, 4 wins, 3 seconds, 3 thirds

PB: 30.10

*From a proven bloodline that can run the hands of the clock early and will need to do this to out muster her rivals from the squeeze box. Will need a lot of luck behind her to pinch this*

Box Six - Runway Idole

Cosmic Rumble x Runway Ready

Trainer: Christine Proctor

WP: 12 starts, 3 wins, 4 seconds, 1 third

PB: 30.22

*Was brave in defeat last week, finishing second to Ritza Lenny in a  speedy performance. The box draw has done her no favours, however she is a consistent beginner and could avoid the early trouble to put herself into the mix*

Box Seven - Zambora Idol

Nolen x Sheza Pleaser

Trainer: Tony Spiteri

WP: 6 starts, 3 wins, 1 second

PB: 30.02

*Caused an upset win in his semi-final last week, however hasn’t come up with a good box draw being on the inside of El Magnifico*

Box Eight - El Magnifico

El Grand Senor x Little Greg

Trainer: Julie Fletcher

WP: 12 starts, 5 wins, 1 second, 2 thirds

PB: 29.59

*Has won his past three straight, including two at this track and has a sizzling personal best time of 29.59. Will need to work hard to get across from the wide draw, but has a massive motor and is the main danger to the inside runners*
