It was a beautiful embrace for trainer Craig Chappelow with his family, after securing his maiden Group One Victory in last nights Peter Mosman Opal final. His charge Embrace wasn't given much hope from the wide alley, however the race went perfectly to plan for the daughter of Turanza Bale and Twisted Love, who found the front at the first turn after some interference on the her inside.
The 28kg chaser gave a great sight out in front and scored by three lengths at the finish in 29.88. Surprisingly, it was just her third career victory from start seventeen, with seemingly many more to follow.
Chappelow, along with his wife Sam and Father Ken were all trackside for the momentous occasion, with the families rich history steeped in greyhound racing, there were plenty of tears shed post-race. Kennel mate Manipulate saluted earlier on in the evening to give Craig a winning double for the evening.
Craig post-race acknowledged his father for all he'd taught him and his assistance in training greyhounds full-time and mentioned he was now off to Disneyland for a long overdue holiday with his family after securing the win.
Peter Rodger's Lightnin' Ethics was gallant in defeat finishing second, with Spring Elegance giving her young trainer Josh Board a thrill in finishing third.
