Following four thrilling semi finals of the 2012 Group 1 Rapidvite Peter Mosman (520m) the final eight runners and reserves have been determined trackside at Wentworth Park.
The age restricted classic has again drawn together a sensational final which includes tonight’s winners; Bye Bye Bucks (race 5 – 29.88), Garrick Bale (race 6 – 29.93) , Odie For Now (race 7 – 29.61) and Grigorieva Bale (race 8 – 29.86).
Fastest qualifier Odie For Now showed marked improvement on his heat performance, leading all the way in the sensational 29.61 victory over Watto Lotto and Billy The Sid.
Drawing box one in the final, trainer Kel Greenough warns that the 28kg black and white dog is no certainty.
“Sadly I’m not as delighted as you normally would be drawing the red box,” Greenough said following the draw.
“He has won out of box one before so it isn’t a big issue but probably would of preferred a bit more room.
“If he can spear onto the bunny it will be tough to run him down going the 29.60’s, however if he is forced to do some early pushing, he can get beaten,” Greenough said.
NSW in form sprinter Bye Bye Bucks looks to be the biggest threat having drawn box eight in the final.
Race goers next Saturday evening will be entertained by the industry’s own Stephanie Davidson, who will be singing trackside.
Participants are also encouraged to get along and hear from Rapidvite’s Peter Bryce with an information session on use of supplements as well as a Q&A session. This information session will be conducted from 6.30pm on Ground Level.
Tickets are also still available for the Gala Dinner to be hosted in the Function Centre. Tickets are $75 per person and include entry, race book, 3 course meal and drinks. Bookings close Tuesday June 12 at 5pm and can be made by contact NSW GBOTA Business Development Manager, Ellen Dwyer on 02 8587 1210.
The time honoured event recognises the work of the late NSW GBOTA Chairman Mr. Peter Mosman who served from 1985 to 1987.
