On the eve of NSW Greyhound racing’s night of nights, the Betfair Greyhound of the Year, the NSW Greyhound Breeders, Owners and Trainers Association is happy to announce an agreement between Betfair and Wentworth Park.

Under the agreement Betfair will receive prominent signage and sponsorship of the Group 2 Gold Cup.

Betfair and NSW GBOTA officials will mark the start of the partnership on Saturday night, with the unveiling of feature signage and presentation to the winner of the Betfair.com Stakes (race 8 on the program).

Association Chairman, Geoff Rose said the announcement of the Betfair agreement marked an exciting week in the GBOTA’s year, following other sponsorship deals concluded earlier in the week.

“We are very pleased to have Betfair come on board as a sponsor of Wentworth Park. Their signing just tops such a great couple of days for the organisation.

“Betfair are a progressive wagering entity and we have great delight in welcoming them on board as the Group 2 Gold Cup sponsor,” Rose said.

NSW GBOTA Executive Officer, Brenton Scott, stated that the agreement cemented Betfair’s position as Wentworth Park’s betting exchange partner.

“We are confident that the relationship with Betfair will complement those in place with other wagering operators,” said Scott.

“The wagering market place now irreversibly includes traditional TABs, corporate bookmakers and betting exchanges.

“Betfair is a world player, providing a unique product which adds diversity to the greyhound wagering market.”

Betfair is the world’s leading online betting exchange and recently celebrated its fifth anniversary in Australia. In those five years Betfair has added more than 150,000 local punters to its three million customers world-wide and has become a major sponsor of all three codes of racing, including two breakthrough deals with greyhound clubs in NSW.

Betfair’s Media and Communication Manager Hugh Taggart, believes the sponsorship agreement will only serve to increase the exposure of the outstanding greyhound product already on display in NSW.

“Betfair welcomes the opportunity to support such a progressive club in NSW and give back to an industry that is clearly out thinking and outperforming its NSW racing counterparts.

“The partnership obviously provides us with an opportunity to market more effectively to a local audience and we are tremendously placed to take Wentworth Park and NSW greyhounds to a massive interstate and international audience through our three million online customers.”

Betfair’s involvement at Wentworth Park will hit full throttle over February and March in the lead up to the Association’s next feature event; the Group 2 Betfair Gold Cup over 720 metres.
